Arthemia Wordpress Improved and Optimized

I found a very attractive and well designed Wordpress template called Arthemia a week ago, which lead me into an immediate testing review opportunity. I found out that there are issues with the design, which may be due to the fact that an Arthemia Premium Version is being sold which offers more customization and SEO features. It does seem like a logical marketing plan, who would really want to purchase a theme if there was an equivalent free version of it, right?

Here are a list of issues that I discovered after using the free Arthemia Wordpress theme:

  • Post Images Alignment issues – I am using wordpress 2.8.4 and I notice that the auto-generated image classes were not properly declared in its stylesheet making centering of images almost impossible.
  • Invalid XHTML Code – There are a few invalid code in the HTML front end of the theme. This is a design disadvantage as the site may not be display properly in some browsers. Having a validated XHTML Code will ensure that your site displays properly on all widely used browser.
  • SEO limitations – As far as SEO is concerned, the site may still perform well with SEO however there are still areas of improvement that will give you better rankings.

Improved Version:

I have managed to to fix some issues with the Free Arthemia Wordpress Theme.  See changes below.

Blog Fixes:

  • Post Images Alignment issues are now fixed.
  • Wordpress 2.8.4 Compatibility
  • Code is now XHTML Validated.
  • Better SEO theme
  • Fast loading Time – YSlow Grade A

You can use the improved and SEOptimized Artemia Wordpress theme for free. Note that this version does not replace the Premium Arthemia Theme, it is merely an improved version of the free theme.

Hello, I have few questions, are you using the lastest verson of Arthemia theme?
Also caching – speed of website, it seems that http://michaelhutagalung.com/arthemia/ are working faster than your demo. Do you have some tips around this? I been using the old version of Arthemia and will soon replays a clean version, my old version http://www.woaw7.com

Thank you pointing it out. The old arthemia is using the super-cache plugin:

-Dynamic page generated in 0.979 seconds.
-Cached page generated by WP-Super-Cache on 2009-09-07 03:22:20
-Compression = gzip

I forgot to use super-cache on my demo site…I will be Enabling super cache now on my demo site now in two minutes…..
There you go.. After enabling super cache the new arthemia is actually faster!

-Dynamic page generated in 0.697 seconds.
-Cached page generated by WP-Super-Cache on 2009-09-08 01:45:33
-Compression = gzip

Regards, Nik
